OneManga is closing

Well... I think it's really sad. How many series on OneManga are actually licensed in the countries of most of OneManga's readers?

I think the reason why the Japanese publishers have changed their position on these sites is because apps have recently come out that allow users to download manga from these aggregator sites onto their cell phones & the iPad. There's a shift from consumers buying physical paperbacks to e-books & they want to profit from it.

... which means they want to get into that business. It'll be interesting to see what digital options the publishers provide & what they're going to do with their growing English-reading audience.

What's sad is that the exposure of unlicensed manga will drop drastically.

Today is the last day of Onemanga. Now I have to go to Mangafox... gross. But I didn't want to forget all of the manga that I am still reading. So I thought it would be a smart idea to type them all out and what chapter I am on... well that took me like 3 hours. I read way to much!!

Well, beta's function will still work, so you know what mangas you have been reading, and what chapter you were on before OneManga closed.

As a member of the OneManga forums, I saw it coming, and apparently, all the forum staff knew about it the week or so before it was announced. I just wish it wasn't so soon before all the other "good" sites go down.
