Ikigami

Baka-Updates description: [with two spelling mistakes too!!!! ah!!!]

The Japanese government has launched a brand new law: because of the laziness and apathy of Japan's people it was decided that someone, daily and randomly, will be chosen and killed with a poisoned capsule in order to "bring to life again" and wake up the others.
The person elected will be warned with an ikigami (or death's notice) and after this he/she will have only 24 hours left to live.
What will those condemned think and do during this short time?

It's a bit inaccurate actually, the description. The law isn't actually "brand new" but enacted after a war.

anyway Ikigami is so touching T_T Seriously, I read it, then I tear up, then I reach the story about the damn old lady and I'm just like... T_________T

Recommended tales:
2nd one, about the musician duo {Forgotten Song}
3rd one, about the couple (the male is a director) {Drug of Pure Love}*
4th one, about the old lady and her caregiver {Night Before Conscription}*
6th one, about the brother and sister {Lie to the Beloved}*
7th one maybe? About the student? ;\ Only because I like delinquents HAHA {Last Lesson}
8th one, about the street racer dad and his family {Somewhere Safe}*
9th one, about the graffiti artist {Tagged Soul}
10th one, about the hmm... the class... don't wanna spoil it. {NPAA Fundamentalism}*

Hush I know I recced almost all the scanlated tales out there. I'll asterisk ** the ones I REALLY loved.

Though I only *'ed the 10th one because of the last page, first panel. THAT ART IS SO DAMN BADASS. (and it has freckles... hahahaha. MY WEAKNESS!!)

Read it, it's good T_T
And it's not too long for those without much time to spare XD

Kinda reminds me of a short story published in 1948 called "The Lottery". It caused quite a sensation and is well known in literary circles.

Although Ikigami focuses more on what the victim does with the time he or she has left.
