Cleaning Test
Hey so yea this is my sad attempt at cleaning the spread.
I got about 3/4ths way done until coinbox on irc told me something that would have drastically saved me a lot of time (maybe like 9 out of the 10 hours). Well no exuses, I know its ugly but the helmet should look good :p I hope.

I can do the test properly to if you want me to redo it.

Re: Cleaning Test
whoa.. u cleaned out the sfx as well.. i can't imagine how much time you spent on that..
one thing i wanna ask though what did you use when you redraw the middle guy's shorts (is it called shorts?). it's like you smudge it and it doesn't look very good. but the rest is okay! good job!

Re: Cleaning Test
yea I got kinda lazy at that point; I was going to try and scratch the lines but I didn't in the end. When I redrew the shorts I just used the polygon lasso drew some spikes filled black -> motion blur -> warp -> motion blur -> dupe -> dupe -> fold down a layer -> fold down a layer
yea I'm with you it doesn't fit in at all :/

Re: Cleaning Test
Hey Mate, I looked at your page. It's way enough to pass the cleaning test .
And yeah, we usually don't clean the sfx...redrawing od stuff is enough pain.

OK, for all applicants and other guys trying to show their skills....HERE YOU GO!!
Here're the pages to clean:
,
As for the format, create a new topic titled like this: Cleaning test by YOUR_NAME
Important things
----------------------
Page height: 1100 px,
Save as PNG 8 file!
Maybe you'll have to rotate the page!
Some advices
-------------------
duplicate the original layer,
Level and Curve the pages,
use the burn and dodge tool to darken or lighten some areas,
for some areas use the pen tool,
as for the redrawing: be patient and don't get frustrated!!
You want to do cleaning and typsetting?! Just take a look at the typsett test too: https://chibisuke.darkbb.com/staff-applications-f4/typesetting-test-t39.htm#215
Thanks for your effort.
Have fun and good luck!
mathi36~

Re: Cleaning Test
hey Horizon,
Good leveling and text erasing on the two pages!
But you're not done yet^^. You still have to join the two pages into one and redraw the text near the helmet. Hope you can manage it. And don't panic if it takes time...it^s a difficult page to begin with.

Re: Cleaning Test
Hey Mathi36,
Thanks for the feedback, i didnt realise that the two pages had to be joined into one.
I'll fix the joining of the two pages into one and redraw the text near the helmet. I'll upload the new finished page once i have completed the bits i forgot.

Re: Cleaning Test
the white line's the tricky part...you actually gotta either redraw and thus fill the white space or find the right angle between the two pages by moving them closer together. But with my scans the second option won't work^^'. So you have to redraw the space in between by using the stamp&clone tool and pen and whatnot.
As for your helmet redraw, the edges look a bit too sharp to me. It'd be cool if you could try to kinda round them up a bit, make them look less edgy.

Re: Cleaning Test
Ok thanks for the feedback on the helmet and the white gap, i'll try to fix them up as soon as possible and re-upload the finished product.

Hey just finished making the helmet lines a bit rounder and smoother and cloned and redrew the sections that where in the white line.

I circled the areas in which I thought that the redraw was a bit weird/off (I haven't really critiqued any type of art lately since sometimes I feel that I can be too harsh so I can't think of good words to use).
For the red circle, it looks weird because your curve isn't really following the other curves angle. Try to follow the flow of the other curves to make it look like it belongs there.
For the blue circle, look at Shinozaki's helmet and compare it to where the circle is at.
Otherwise, the rest of the redraws look ok to me.

Re: Cleaning Test
well the point of joining the two pages is to make it look not put together there are some little traces of the joint in the center of the page that and lower the brush flow so u wont make the line less fake or redrawn

Re: Cleaning Test
Hey blennz,
Thanks for pointing out those little sections that i had to redraw near the center on where the two pages merge. I fixed that up and redrew the helmet a bit, all the curves and lines in the helmet match alot better to the previous one i tried.

Re: Cleaning Test
Hey Horizon,
Your clean looks a lot better now! The redrawn lines are quite good, although you could still make them a bit less edgy. Try to go over them using the 'blur' tool. That should help quite a bit.

Re: Cleaning Test
apart from that I like it. If you still have the nerve to work on it, take a look at the jointing area. You can still see a tiny tiny line in some areas between the pages.
Re: Cleaning Test
Yeah i see what you mean with the tiny tiny lin in the joining section of the two pages.
