Over Drive

Is it possible for the translator to pick up the pace maybe one chapter a week? There is a completed version of the raw on the web. There only 23 chapter translated in the past 2 years. Between chapter 22 and 23 there were a 6 month gap. Im sorry for complying but I really want to read it.

2) If you're going to bitch about the speed, get your ass over here and help us by QCing/editing/translating yourself. If you're not contributing, you have no right to complain.

1) This is the closest thing I could find except for the general discussion but there was barely any thing about manga so I posted it here

2)I dont know how to translate or I would have done it myself It don't hurt anyone to be a pace a little. I just wanted to know if the project were going to be dropped at the rate it been going. The group seem to be focusing on the soccer manga.

1 - we're working on it.
2 - people these days are busy and have private/personal issues to attend.
(i, for one, do not have any issues.. but im working on it!! gee. i take one day, okay?)
3 -don't complain.
4 -just be glad that we're able to scanlate it for you readers so as you can read it.

I have a perfect right to be rude to him if he is going to be this rude to us. This is a free service, after all. If he can't be a mite bit more appreciative, it's moronic.

And... we here at Chibisuke have our own reasons to scanlate a particular serie, not to forget that we are not forced by law or simple rules to release chapters. (That doesn't mean that we aren't trying our best to get releases out!!)

1) I am the translator of Overdrive. If you have a problem, look for me. I have translations done until the next volume already.

2) We are in no hurry to release them because we lack staff especially Quality Checkers. You will know that if you had read our credit pages in Area no Kishi.

3) Until then please refrain from posting really hurtful stuffs like hinting that we are not doing our job. As we are speaking our project manager for Overdrive is painfully going through chapter 24 to weed out the mistakes.

By any means we are not your sleepyfans that released Overdrive by doing a half assed job.

4) If you have any problem, come talk to me directly. I will entertain you.

Sounds like you're butthurt.

Don't blame our translators - the slow release rate isn't because of them. As dark-san has already stated, we're lacking in Quality Checkers. You'd be surprised how long it takes to go through one chapter (no it's not just a 1 or 2 hour stint. You'd be lucky if you could even go through 5 pages in 3 hours. Your average chapter has 19 pages. Do the maths. And that's the BEST case scenario). Not to mention the fact that we scanlators have lives outside of this.

Granted, it IS true we haven't released OD consistently for quite some time, but if you REALLY want to read it, then wait. Giving us friendly reminders that we haven't released for a while doesn't help us get a chapter out any earlier. In fact, you're wasting my time, since I'm spending time replying to your post instead of QC-ing. So really, you're delaying the release. So please, in the future, don't tell us to release more frequently. If we drop a project, we will announce it. If we haven't announced that we're dropping a project, then assume we're still working on it to the best of our ability. And if your main aim was to know whether we dropped the project, don't ask us to release faster. Just ask us if we've dropped the project.

An alternative to waiting (passive approach) is to join us (active approach). I know you've replied to that suggestion, saying you don't know how to translate, otherwise you'd have done it yourself. You seem to have confused"scanlating" with "translating". The scanlation process involves much more than just translating from Japanese/Chinese to English. If you have a good grasp of English, or have some experience with using image editing programs (e.g. Photoshop), I suggest you try and apply for our other positions, like proofreaders, cleaners and typesetters. If you do get in, then you could actually help ease our bottleneck.

Otherwise, again, please just wait. We know we have readers desperate for a new release. You don't need to tell us.

It's kinda typical to blame translators for slow releases. But essentially, it's never their fault. Cause if you don't have a translator, you don't have a project.
