Re: What manga are you reading now?
Area no Kishi (of course)
xxxHolic
07-Ghost (though the English publisher has shut down so I've got only 3 of the volumes in English )
Id - some of it I yawn at & have skipped over, but I like the main character. He makes me laugh.
Smash - great manga!
Oishii Kankei - chick manga... it's a coming of age/girl discovering she wants to be a chef. The characters are round (not physically... they're believable, have different personalities)
I should pick up Hikaru no Go again. That was a great manga.

I'll check it out
I don't know if this counts. But I've been reading a manga my friend drew!!!! XD
It's a really amateur effort though. I mean she did it when she was like, 13 or 14. But it's really funny. I just felt like mentioning it... XD
I've still been reading Naruto, as always, but it's more like "I've read so much... might as well see how it ends.." XD

Re: What manga are you reading now?
I am now an Adachi Mitsuru fan. I read Rough - good manga. Katsu... I'll probably read it, but it's about boxing & I have a hard time with that sport. Watching two people beat the tar out of each other is not something I find entertaining. But maybe I'll develop some kind of appreciation for the sport if Mitsuru gives insight into it via the manga.
Now I'm reading H2 & am impressed & hooked. There's depth to H2. Mitsuru does a mesmerizing job of giving the reader just enough information, but not too much. There's a subtext that comes out in the art, what is not said and with thinking about the character's personality and relationship with one another that provides depth. I sometimes wonder if it was even Mitsuru's intention or if it is an outcome of the creative process. Great creative works often have a "life" or "will" of its own. Anyway, I love it! I could talk more about it but I won't bore you to tears.

Re: What manga are you reading now?
that's exactly what I appreciate in adachi's mangas, the art is simply great! Interestingly enough, he manages to draw the background somehow way more detailed than the actual characters himself. However, it is the combination of both art and story that makes me love him. He mixes sport and love and life in such a way that it touches my heart every time I read through one of his works.

Re: What manga are you reading now?
I was just exposed to the "Big Windup" anime on the Funimation website. Then read some of the manga... I like it.
At first I was put off by the tramatized/negative-confidence pitcher, but when I realized that it was all a part of the plot and wasn't just there to annoy me, I got over it. It's more detailed about the game of baseball than Adachi's works, which I found interesting. It's really about a team whereas Adachi's baseball works seem to be about the pitcher, catcher, crack-batter, and a girl (some kindof triangle). The main characters in "Big Windup" are the pitcher & catcher, but the mangaka developes the other players on the team more than Adachi does.
Adachi's work is still top class imo. "Big Windup" is just a different approach.
